Kennel Terjeviken

17.May in Terjeviken

Terjeviken (Terje`s Cove) is the name of our property as well as the Kennel. It is located close to the sea, in the island Dyrøy in Troms. It layes in the northern part of Norway. In the summer vi can see the Midnight Sun, and in the winter we have the Polarlight.

The dogyard

We who lives here, are our daughter Jenny, my housband Terje and me, Marit. The three oldest children have left home to go to school and work. We also have a cat and of course our dogs.

Sanna and Jenny

I , Marit, got my first dog in 1973, a Border collie named Lucy. My great interest of dogs started with her. I`m an obedience-instructor. I have taken the basic- and extension course for breeders. I'm a ringsteward, and I have taken the courses on dogs' anatomy and movements and judging procedure, all arranged by Norwegian Kennel Club.

I've been actively taking part in Svenska Vita Älghundklubben (the Swedish White Elkhound Club) since Dewita arrived, as one of two Norwegian committee member and also as a breeding-advice. I'm a member in other dog organizations, such as the Norwegian and the Swedish Kennel Club, Troms Elghundklubb, were I am the leder of the committee , and Svenska Eurasierklubben. I also act as a breeding-advice for Swedish White Elkhound in Norway.

Marit with Diva and Rex

In June 1995 Dewita came to us from Sweden. The Swedish White Elkhound was not very comon in Norway at that time, and specially not in the northern part of the country.

Dewita soon became a jewel to us, whith her exelent temperament and her quality as a hunting dog. She even became a star at dog shows.

Terje with Diva and Rex

Dewita was the start of Kennel Terjeviken. In 1997 we got our trademark, and in 1998 the first litter of six pups were born. We kept Dewita`s doughter Snøstjerna Bonnie D av Terjeviken, from her first broad. Her second litter was born in 1999, eight pups, and to of the males were exported to Sweden.

Kitchen-breeding

All our litters are bred in the house with us, and the puppies are also members of our family as well as our grown up dogs. We have a big yard where our dogs enjoy to stay and play.

In 2002 we imported Diva-Dixie von Antina (Diva) from Germany.
